Learn about the past, present and future of textiles and natural dyes in this one-day workshop with artist Lara Hailey. You will have the chance to experiment with various colours, fabrics and techniques (including Shibori and mordanting) to produce beautiful works of art to take away along with new creative skills. With Textile Artist, Lara Hailey
Lara Hailey is a London-based mixed-media artist who explores universal themes of love, loss, identity, and memory. She is inspired by relationships, experiences and particular places or events. Her working method is diverse including stitched textile, mixed media resin, installation, sculpture, prints and video. The use of text also plays an important role in her work.
Between 2003-5 she worked closely with our Education Department to provide site specific textile art workshops for school children as part of our ‘Sloane’s Waistcoat’ project marking the 250th anniversary of Sir Hans Sloane’s death and his links with cotton. http://larahailey.com/
