Gardener/Plant Records Manager

Owing to an internal promotion, Chelsea Physic Garden seeks a highly skilled and motivated Gardener/Plant Records Manager. The ideal candidate will have a level 2 horticultural qualification and have gained at least two years’ experience within an historic or botanic garden.

The successful candidate will be assisting in the maintenance of an intensively cultivated botanical garden, working in all parts and on all aspects of the Garden’s horticultural work with other members of staff, trainees, interns and volunteers.  The Records Management aspect of the role requires a strong grasp of plant identification, taxonomy, nomenclature and record keeping.  Experience of using/managing databases is essential.

The role will be split approximately 75% gardening and 25% Plant Records Management.

The successful candidate will be joining a friendly, knowledgeable and hard-working team and will gain experience of a wide range of ethno botanic, unusual, tropical and rare plants.

This is a full-time role, working with a team of 4 gardeners, 2 or 3 trainees and up to 30 volunteers.
