Living Medicine: Skin and First Aid
As summer begins to fade into autumn, join us at Chelsea Physic Garden for this Living Medicine workshop, focusing on natural remedies for skin and first aid. The skin, our body’s largest organ, plays a crucial role in protecting us. This one-day workshop will explore how to nourish its many functions using foods and herbs, helping you to address common skin problems such as eczema, cold sores, insect bites, and acne.
Led by medical herbalist and author Alex Laird, you’ll learn to identify key herbs from plant families such as the Daisy family that are effective against viral, fungal, and bacterial infections. Through hands-on remedy making, you’ll create your own infused oils, ointments, creams, and lotions to build a first-aid kit tailored for skin care. We will explore these herbs in the Garden, smell and taste them, and learn how to transform them into practical treatments.
This course is perfect for anyone interested in the healing properties of plants and foods, health, gardening, the process of growing and eating and transforming plants into simple, effective remedies.
