Wildflowers for the Queen
Join Hugo Rittson-Thomas as he explores the Coronation Meadows Project and the wildflower meadows of Britain that help connect us with our botanical heritage.
Description
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation, HRH The Prince of Wales called for the creation of new wildflower meadows across Britain. Not only were these meadows designed to celebrate the anniversary, but they were conceived as an important conservation project, intended to bring Britain’s diverse and beautiful wildflowers back into the natural landscape.
Inspired by this project, famed photographer Hugo Rittson-Thomas decided that he would capture how these meadows began to grow and thrive.
In this talk, Hugo highlights the impact of the project by showcasing images captured over the course of a year. These beautiful photographs highlight the wildflowers’ splendour and how they have come to shape the landscape around them, as well as how they help connect us back to Britain’s botanical heritage.
