A physic garden for the future
Throughout the year we will highlight the ongoing importance of plant science to our understanding of climate change and biodiversity, drawing on the Garden’s own experiences as a unique microclimate.
Future innovations
Chelsea Physic Garden will explore the life of plants under glass and the role of plant science in the future of food and medicines, as we celebrate the re-opening of our historic glasshouses in September after our successful National Lottery Heritage fund supported restoration project.

Upcoming anniversary events
We highlight the ongoing importance of plant science to our understanding of climate change and biodiversity.
Since 1673 Chelsea Physic Garden has occupied four acres of land on the edge of the Thames. First established by the Apothecaries in order to grow medicinal plants, this extraordinary garden in London has had wide reaching impact around the world.
Ahead of our 350th anniversary in 2023, the Garden has embarked on a major capital project to repair the Glasshouses at Chelsea Physic Garden, as well as to improve life under glass for our plant collections and enhance the visitor experience.
