Unlocking our collections
This anniversary year, the Garden will be engaging in its theme of ‘Unlocking our collections’ by sharing new research and stories about Chelsea Physic Garden, its plant collection, and people in its history.
Shedding a light on untold stories
With 350 years of history to explore we will shed light on previously untold stories about the plants in our collection and the people who have shaped what the Garden is today. In February, we celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month with trails and talks that highlight the important role members of this community have played in horticulture, as well as exploring sexuality and gender through plants. In March, we embrace International Women’s Day with a series of events that show the contributions made by women past, present and future.

We explore the plants in our collection and the people who have shaped what the Garden is today.
Since 1673 Chelsea Physic Garden has occupied four acres of land on the edge of the Thames. First established by the Apothecaries in order to grow medicinal plants, this extraordinary garden in London has had wide reaching impact around the world.
Ahead of our 350th anniversary in 2023, the Garden has embarked on a major capital project to repair the Glasshouses at Chelsea Physic Garden, as well as to improve life under glass for our plant collections and enhance the visitor experience.
