Plants Have Secrets: Digital Youth Project
From 2021 to 2023, Chelsea Physic Garden collaborated with Octavia Foundation to develop and deliver free digital week-long activities for people aged 13 to 19. These activity weeks took place once a year at both the Garden and at the Octavia Foundation centre in Ladbroke Grove.
The participants created digital productions themed around the exciting and unusual powers of plants. They got inspiration from the plants in Chelsea Physic Garden’s collection with the help of the Horticulture Team, then developed their ideas with the assistance and guidance of the Garden’s Learning Team and Octavia Foundation staff. Octavia Foundation provided the technology, equipment and the digital know-how to record and edit the digital productions.
At the end of the project week the participants made new friends, learned new skills and produced plant-inspired digital creations they can be proud of.
